Ejo McMullen-osho was born in Ohio in 1970 and grew up in Salem, Oregon. He first visited Japan as an exchange student in highschool. While living in Sendai, Japan he met his teacher, Joshin Keira Roshi. He has trained at his teacher's temple, Shurinji, and Daijoji Training Monastery in Kanazawa. He returned to the United States in 1999 to establish a temple. 

Ejo has a wife and three children and teaches part-time at a local highschool.
