Hermitage in Winter

Empty Field Hermitage

The Hermitage is a work in progress that began in June 2005 as a collaborative effort between the Eugene Zendo and Seido Martin’s Farm to provide rural retreat space for the sangha in addition to serving daily practice needs of the residential and local community. Many sangha hands, expertise and donations have gone into its construction over the last two years. Our first full successful sesshin was held at the site in August 2006 and plans are to expand its usage this season. An advisory board, Friends of the Farm Zendo, meets quarterly to help guide construction and retreat schedules. Please feel invited to participate in any way that supports your interest in the study and practice of the buddha dharma.

Retreats
There is a sesshin upcoming on from August 22 - 26.  Please contact the Eugene Zendo for registration.

Daily Schedule
You are welcome to attend morning sittings, which change monthly with the farm work day schedule and Wednesday evening 7:30 – 9:30 PM May through September.

Private Retreat/ Meditation
If you are a member of the zendo and familiar with the location of the site, you are welcome to come and spend un-hosted time in meditation in the hermitage. Please leave a message at the farm to reserve time. We’ll get in touch with you if it conflicts with another event. Park alongside the main road and walk back to the site. There are no facilities currently in the field. Please be sure and close the deer fences.

Donations
Financial contributions help support sesshin costs and Eugene Zendo projects at the discretion of the EZ board. If you’d like to donate construction or zendo materials, talk to Howard Houseknechts for ideas. Giving your participation in sesshin practice and helping hands in the maintenance and construction of the building is greatly appreciated.
