Ceremony
Ceremony consisting of incense offerings, bowing, prostrations and
group
recitation of sacred texts is a daily part of the practice of Buddhism.
We have regular morning and evening services at the temple:
re-affirming our orientation to practice, venerating the Buddha and
other important figures and turning the wheel of dharma for all beings.
Throughout the year, there are special ceremonies held for New
Year's Day and important events in the history of Buddhism such as the
birth, death, and enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha. Important
occasions in our lives are marked with weddings, funerals,
house-blessing and other ceremonies.
Ango
Twice
a year, in the Spring and Fall, we hold a 90-day practice period,
called Ango. For the duration of the ango, practicioners take on some
level of formal training either through a personal commitment or by
becoming an
Ango Student. Fall Ango starts at the beginning of
September and ends mid-December. Spring Ango starts the beginning of
February and ends mid-May. If you're interested in participating
please speak with the resident priest.
